OLD NEWS
First off --- and I should really write about shows before, not after they occur--- illustrator Ellen Bae and I had a two-person show, BaeconCake, that ran from Dec. 11 through Jan. 7 at Yojie Japanese Fondue restaurant in Downtown L.A. during the DTLA ArtWalk!  We had a lot of fun working on new paintings up until the day of the show, and even though we had no real theme to our bodies of work, everything was seamless and meshed perfectly together.
Apologies if you missed it! It was a good one ;)
I promise to update you from now on ahead of time! Which leads me to the next topic...

NEW NEWS
LA Zinefest!

I'll be selling *all new* items at LA Zinefest this year! This year it will be held at 3347 North San Fernando Rd., Los Angeles on February 15th, 11AM-5PM.

You can expect my *very first zine* that I'll be working on with Ellen Bae, hand screen printed shirts, art prints, stickers, buttons, and more!

I'll be updating on where my table will be, etc! I'll be sharing it with 4 lovely and talented female artists, so stop on by!

OTHER NEWS??
In other news, I'm also on a website! www.thedayitsnowedinlongbeach.com (run by Long Beach 908 Magazine) is full of illustrations of what it would be like to have a snowy day in Long Beach. Each illustration is accompanied by a fictional story and the illustrator's INTERVIEW, WITH PICTURE!

Hey dear reader!

Sorry the last post was such a bummer. It really was, at the time. But if you know me, I'm never down for long. =)

This upcoming Saturday, Oct. 4th, I'll be participating in a LIVE PAINTING EVENT! Is this crazy or what?! I'm nervous, but so excited. 

There will also be an art show up! Come see that, and me, and some other really cool artists at Phone Booth Gallery in Long Beach from 7-10 PM.

In celebration of Inktober (and the coming weekend), here's a little doodle before I head to bed. And as you can see... I have more new stuff in the works but nothing "finished." Ha!

TOODLES <3

I've been teaching art for a few years now, and thoroughly enjoy it. I started off teaching a few privately owned art sessions with kids; now I teach both kids and old folks alike, and sub for different subjects in between at the high school level.

If I didn't love what I do, I wouldn't have been continuing on for this many years (yeesh, makes me sound old, but it's been maybe 5 years since my first teaching experience??).

And yet, I don't know anymore if I'm made for this career. 

I'm often frazzled and disorganized. I'm not a morning person; I get dizzy with sleepiness if I have to sub for 0 period... or even 3rd. 

I am almost clueless about school politics, and...

I can't pass this test called TPA 3. I've taken it 3 times now, and have received a non-passing score of 2 (out of 4) 3 times now. I've passed the other 3 tests in the series, TPA1, 2, and 4. So, what's wrong with me? Why can't I understand what is wanted of me in TPA3?

I'm devastated. 


So all I'm going to do is paint, and paint, and paint... that is all I know I want to do for sure, right now.

Today I will be showing solo style at Common Ground in Santa Ana.
 I will have some new pieces up, come check it out! Go to www.commongroundoc.com for info on the event.

They'll be posted to the website after the show. I need to get my hands on a good camera, anyway... Cell photos won't do anymore.

So I figured that I will title my works and then forget and re-title them, usually at least a couple of times. Maybe this is why so many artists title their works "Untitled."

I finally did it! I have a domain name and a hosting plan, and even an integrated shop! Granted, there's really nothing up right now, but I'm learning HTML and CSS over at CodeAcademy.com so pretty soon I'll have this site looking super spiffy. But right now it's just bare bones :o)

Here's a look at what's next:

• re-code website to make more original
• take artwork and product photos
• create professional illustration portfolio
• update Cake Shop with goodies ready for checkout
• make a ton of sketchbooks (once I get my paper guillotine omg!)
• rebrand Bommie into PUMMELCAKE
• etc.!

That's quite a to-do list. I better go get dinner and watch some House of Cards... See you next time :o)
